Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado is a little village clustered around the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR). Mt. Crested Butte is home to majority of the lodging in the Gunnison Valley. Options range from condos to hotels to vacation homes.

It’s also a great place to stay if you want to be close to some awesome mountain biking and hiking trails in the summer. Mt. Crested Butte offers a variety of concerts and festivals, including the annual Chili and Beer Festival every September.
Crested Butte, Colorado is home to a variety of small inns, bed-and-breakfasts, and vacation home rentals. Most of these properties are unique, boutique lodges owned by long-time locals. Many offer homemade breakfast and some offer afternoon happy hours as well.

The lodging options in the tiny town of Almont, Colorado include a few large cabin resorts, a dude ranch and camping. Each of the largest resorts offers dining options and most cabins come equipped with kitchens, so Almont is the place to stay for those looking for a more contained vacation.
Staying in Almont offers access to amazing recreation amenities. Take a whitewater rafting trip or go fly fishing on the Taylor River. Check out some of the Valley’s best mountain biking trails, including Doctor Park, located in Taylor Canyon. Almont is a short drive from Taylor Park, which contains some of the best OHV trails in the valley. Taylor Reservoir is a scenic place to go stand-up paddleboarding (SUPing) or fishing. This area is popular amongst hunters in the fall.
Gunnison, Colorado is home to a wide variety of lodging options. Within the city limits, you’ll find a range of locally owned hotels and inns, major hotel chains, a hostel, and even a one-room bed and breakfast. Outside the city, you’ll find more hotels, inns and several campgrounds featuring cabins and RV hookups.
You’ll want to stay in Gunnison if you’re visiting Western Colorado University, if you’re in town for the Cattlemen’s Days rodeo, if you’re here to access early (or late) season mountain biking, or if you’re looking for a great deal on ski-and-stay packages in the winter. Visitors to the Blue Mesa Reservoir will appreciate the RV resorts right on the water. If you’re looking for more of a bustling community to hang out in after a day on the lake, Gunnison offers great restaurants and a mellow bar scene.
Gunnison County spans 3,260 square miles, so there’s a lot more to it than the municipalities listed above. Rural Gunnison County includes Pitkin (located 27 miles northeast of Gunnison), Cimarron (45 miles west of Gunnison), Taylor Park (19 miles east of Almont) and more. Lodging in these areas tends to be quiet, rustic and very close to outdoor activities, including OHV, hiking and fishing.
