The Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association (CBMBA) is the oldest mountain bike club in the world. Founded as a riding club in 1983, today CBMBA creates, maintains, advocates for and loves the 450+ miles of singletrack around Crested Butte, Colorado. CBMBA is always looking to grow the number of trails around Crested Butte. CBMBA also grooms winter trails for fat biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. CBMBA advocates for sustainable trail use and stewardship of the environment in the Gunnison Valley as well. CBMBA updates their trail conditions page regularly to let you now which Crested Butte trails are open and what kind of conditions to expect. 

CBMBA maintains and creates trails thanks to the hard work of passionate volunteers. In the 1970s, an intrepid group of Crested Butte locals (including some of the founding members of CBMBA) began riding bikes on the 4×4 roads surrounding the town. The two Born From Junk short films chronicle their story of inventing—and falling in love with—the sport of mountain biking.
