Freehub Crested Butte Mountain Bike Park POV Video

Follow Jesse East and Cal Hill around the Crested Butte Bike Park

In the latest installment of Freehub Magazine’s POV (Perspectives on Velocity) video series, we follow local riders through some of Crested Butte Mountain Bike Park’s most difficult trails. Let athletes Cal Hill and Jesse East show you around iconic Crested Butte tech trails like Avery, Boulder Mason and Psycho Rocks. Not many of us are able to manual down a chunky, black-diamond trail, but we can all enjoy a video of someone else doing it!

Meet the riders

Jesse East and Cal Hill are both alumni of Western Colorado University, a small public university just down the road in Gunnison. They’ve ridden these trails plenty of times, so they’re the perfect guides to show the very best of what the Crested Butte Bike Park has to offer.

Cal Hill

Some people can do it all, and Cal Hill is one of them. Cal is also an accomplished freeride skier, as evidenced by this Matchstick Productions video where he shreds Crested Butte Mountain Resort with Logan Pehota on an epic powder day. Follow Cal on Instagram to keep up with him in every season.

Downhill MTB trails in Crested Butte

The Crested Butte Bike Park is known for rocky, technical trails served by Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Red Lady chairlift. Bonus—the scenery of the surrounding West Elk Mountains is also stunning.

Ride through rock gardens and off diving board features on expert trails like Boulder Mason, Avery and Captain Jack, or explore tabletop jumps and big berms on blue trails like Teaser, Luge and Frequency. Green trails like Hotdogger and Downtime offer non-technical descents for beginner riders or anyone looking for a fun, flowy trail.
