Did you know there are many events in Crested Butte and Gunnison? See live music, take an art class, volunteer, play trivia, watch (or participate in) a ski or bike race, and more! Check this calendar to see what’s going on.
Join us for an evening at the Magic Meadows Yurt for dinner and a history presentation by our curator. Cross country ski or snowshoe to the yurt under the stars, where youÕll be treated on arrival to a beverage and appetizers. Get settled in and enjoy a 3-course dinner with the option to add a wine pairing with your meal. Please note that if you need to rent nordic skis or snowshoes, you must do so through the Crested Butte Nordic Center. If you need to rent gear, please show up at the Nordic Center at 4:30pm to get settled with gear. If you are not renting gear, you can meet the group at the Nordic Center at 5pm for carpooling, or at the Peanut Lake Trailhead at 5:15pm to ski or snowshoe to the yurt. This will be a casual, at your own pace, ski or snowshoe to the yurt. Upon arriving to the yurt, you will be treated to a light apres & a welcome drink beginning at 6pm after getting settled. Dinner & wine pairing service will begin at 6:30pm, with a history presentation shortly thereafter. The event will wrap up around 8:30pm, then bundle up and ski/snowshoe back to the trailhead.
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
