5 Reasons to Attend Crested Butte Nordic’s Thanksgiving Camp

The Crested Butte Nordic Thanksgiving Ski Camp, now in its 14th year, has been on snow every year since its inception. People come from all over the state and beyond to participate in Camp activities, festivities and clinics or just to get on snow and ski. Here are 5 reasons why you should join us this year:

1) Exceptional Early Season Nordic Skiing

Six miles west of Town, the Lily Lake Trails offer 10 kilometers of skiing at the top of Kebler Pass. The area receives 600 inches of annual snowfall and provides a very reliable early season venue. Ruthie’s Run, completed just two years ago, is an engineered ski trail that leaves right from the Nordic Center in Town. CB Nordic designed the trail specifically with early season skiing in mind and has specialized equipment that can groom the 5k loop with as little as 6 inches of snow. Since the trail was built, it has served as the venue for the Camp.

2) No Child Care Needed

At Crested Butte Nordic, all youngsters 17 and under get free passes and rentals all season long. Plus, there is a free Kids Camp for kids whose parents sign up for clinics.

3) Activities and Festivities

During the camp, you can learn how to wax your skis, take a pilates or yoga class, or test your fitness in the first of five Alley Loop Points Series Races. Plus, CB Nordic holds the Winter Kick Off Party on the last night of the Camp with food, libations, and live music.

4) Everything Within Walking Distance

Once you get to town, park your car for the weekend.  Crested Butte’s lodgings are within walking distance of the Town’s shops, restaurants, and nordic skiing trailheads.  You can even walk to the bus that takes you up to the base of the ski area.

5) Ski at Crested Butte Mountain Resort
