Beacon Brush Up

Join the CBAC and our avalanche forecasters for a day of brushing up on your avalanche rescue skills. Beacon drills and skills, rescue scenarios and shoveling and evacuation techniques. Field skills practice from 9-2 with the afterparty from 3-5.

Veterans Appreciation Breakfast

Crested Butte Community School 818 Red Lady Ave., Crested Butte, CO

All active and inactive military are invited for breakfast at the CBCS Library beginning at 8AM this Veteran's Day. A song of gratitude will be performed by third graders at 8:30AM. All military personnel are then invited to parade through the hallways so that students can show their appreciation.

The 51st annual Crested Butte Arts Festival takes place August 4th - 6th, outdoors on the Crested Butte Community School campus. This juried festival features 150 artists across twelve different artistic mediums, merging fine art exhibition with live music, children's art activities and a food vendor courtyard.

Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison

Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
