Did you know there are many events in Crested Butte and Gunnison? See live music, take an art class, volunteer, play trivia, watch (or participate in) a ski or bike race, and more! Check this calendar to see what’s going on.
If you’d like to be a part of Vinotok but are not interested in a Vinotok Theatre Troupe roll, this meeting is for you! Vinotok seeks people across a broad spectrum of skills. We seek volunteers to decorating venues for our events; gather greenery (anyone a landscaper out there?); create our Altars; paint faces and apply henna art; and take tickets. We need Green Team operators, carpenters, and seamstresses The Community Feast, in particular, welcomes all of the community to come forward to help make this happen. Our Feast Master needs food preparers and servers, while the Feast in general need servers; people to set up and break down; and operators for recycling, compost and trash. We’d also like to answer any questions the community might have in how and why we have shifted the celebrations. Bring warm layers, food and drink, and be prepared for a loose, community, social event, i.e., this is not your typical meeting Toto. If you can’t make the meeting and would like to volunteer, please contact Betty Sue Gurk at 970-680-3660 or vinotokvolunteer@gmail.com for any questions or to figure out your perfect spot.
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
