Rattlesnake Milk
The Live from Mt. Crested Butte (presented by the Mt. Crested Butte Town Center Community Association) series returns! Rattlesnake Milk will take the stage on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Join us at the Red Lady Stage in the Crested Butte Mountain Resort Base Area for free live music. Local opener at 5:30 pm. All live series openers are provided in partnership with the Gunnison Valley Music Association. Food and beverage will be served during the event. Grab your camp chairs and blankets and make plans to join us on the lawn for music on the mountain! From the southern plains of Texas, Rattlesnake Milk summons the sound of the prairie, mimicking the howl of coyotes and the pulsing rhythm of a lonesome junk train. While farming cotton for a family friend, Lou Lewis found inspiration to record an eight-song demo listening to the classics played on KDAV 1590AM in the empty flatlands of his hometown. Those demos paid homage to Lou’s favorite Dust Bowl migrant songs and haunted melodic gems from the 50s and 60s. Now, with the help of Corey Alvarez, and Andrew Chavez, Rattlesnake Milk captures the ephemeral soundscape of the Texas panhandle in the studio and on the stage. https://rattlesnakemilk.com/

Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days.
