Pop Art Party
Join us from 6-8 pm at the Gunnison Library on Friday, August 1, 2025 for a Pop Art Program with modern pop artist Michael Albert. This modern pop art experience and collage workshop includes an artist talk with Michael Albert, a hands-on collage workshop for children and adults, a free poster giveaway and signing. AMERICAN POP Artist MICHAEL ALBERT (American, born 1966) Albert has been creating ART since his college days at New York University, where he studied business (BPA, 1984-1988). After visiting many of the great museums in NYC and viewing some of the world’s greatest masterpieces of art, he began his own artistic pursuits. His art has evolved from doodles and Pen & Ink to serious wax oil drawings, to the cubist mosaic Cereal box collages he has become known for internationally. Albert is a prolific artist who, over the past 35 years, has created literally thousands of original works of art including drawings & collages. In the past two decades, he has been creating large-scale “Epic” collage works on various themes including History, Literature, Religion & Philosophy, Music, Poetry & Lyrics, Botany/Landscapes, Logo Montages, Color Studies, Abstract Art, Mathematics & Geography. www.michaelalbert.com This event is free and open to the public.
Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
