WCU Alumni River Float

Join fellow Western Colorado University alumni for a fun and relaxing afternoon floating the scenic town stretch of the Gunnison River! We’ll launch from Shady Island at 11 AM and float downstream to the Gunnison Whitewater Park, enjoying time on the water while reconnecting with fellow Mountaineers. All watercraft are welcome-bring your tube, kayak, paddleboard, raft, or any other river-ready craft! Don’t have your own equipment? Wilderness Pursuits is offering discounted rentals for event participants, making it easy for everyone to join in on the fun. After the float, stick around to enjoy sandwiches provided by Western Colorado University. Please bring your own snacks, water, and other beverages to enjoy during the float. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or meeting new alumni, this is a great opportunity to spend a summer day on one of Gunnison’s favorite local rivers. What to Bring: Your watercraft (if you have one) Life jacket (required) Water, snacks, and beverages Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and appropriate river attire A dry bag for personal belongings (recommended) This event is weather and river condition dependent. Low water flows or unsafe weather may require the event to be modified, postponed, or canceled. Registered participants will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
