Did you know there are many events in Crested Butte and Gunnison? See live music, take an art class, volunteer, play trivia, watch (or participate in) a ski or bike race, and more! Check this calendar to see what’s going on.
The seasons are shifting and with the snow starting to settle in the high mountains, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate all we’ve accomplished together this trail season than our annual Ales for Trails event! Brought to you in partnership with High Alpine Brewing Company, Ales for Trails is Gunnison Trails way of saying “THANK YOU” for another great trail season. We are kicking off this year’s event with an Ales for Trails Townie Tour before we pack the brewery for the evening. We will meet at IOOF Park at 4pm for a group ride around the trails at Van Tuyl. The ride will return back to the brewery by 5pm when doors open for the event. Best of all, each rider will get a coupon for a free pint of hometown crafted HABC beer at our midpoint aid station at the far end of the Van Tuyl along the river just for joining us. There will be an assortment of snacks and beverages for riders to refuel for the return pedal. This night is one of the ways we want to thank our business partners and members whose sustaining financial support maintains YOUR local trails. We also send out our thanks to our incredible community of volunteers that either came out to get their hands dirty alongside us on trail work days, or worked with us to pull together The Original Growler. We couldn’t do what we do without each of you and your contributions to Gunnison Trails. So, come join us at our founding Penny for Trails Partner, High Alpine Brewing, to raise a glass to this community! Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
