All live series openers are provided in partnership with the Gunnison Valley Music Association. Food and beverage will be served during the event. Grab your camp chairs and blankets and make plans to join us on the lawn! Sons of Habit gets their name from the trailer where the band started making music on a piece of land in Habit\, KY. The band’s organic beginnings can be heard in their music and felt in their live show\, where they exude a natural chemistry. Although they’ve only been a band for less than a year\, the members have a deep-rooted history\, all growing up in Owensboro\, KY. Since releasing their first single “Madeline” in July 2024\, the band has racked up millions of streams and has played shows nationwide\, opening for the likes of Ole 60 and Shane Smith & the Saints.

Enjoy a summer three-day writing workshop at the Gunnison Arts Center in which we explore the relationship between the story that is a map\, and the map that is a story. Through writing\, lively discussion\, a visit to the Pioneer Museum\, and a walking tour of parts of Gunnison both known and lesser-known\, we’ll discover inspiration peeking out at us from everywhere. This workshop is a great way to develop an idea for your next work and is suitable for writers of plays\, screenplays\, short stories and creative nonfiction. Be sure to bring writing material\, sunscreen\, a hat and a good pair of walking shoes (on Saturday). Classes meet at the GAC. Paul Edwards\, Professor Emeritus of Communication Arts at Western Colorado University\, holds degrees from St. Michael’s College\, University at Albany\, and the University of Colorado Boulder\, and is a playwright and workshop leader whose works have been performed throughout Colorado’s Central Rockies. This modern pop art experience and collage workshop includes an artist talk with Michael Albert\, a hands-on collage workshop for children and adults\, a free poster giveaway and signing. AMERICAN POP Artist MICHAEL ALBERT (American\, born 1966) Albert has been creating ART since his college days at New York University\, where he studied business (BPA\, 1984-1988). After visiting many of the great museums in NYC and viewing some of the world’s greatest masterpieces of art\, he began his own artistic pursuits. His art has evolved from doodles and Pen & Ink to serious wax oil drawings\, to the cubist mosaic Cereal box collages he has become known for internationally. Albert is a prolific artist who\, over the past 35 years\, has created literally thousands of original works of art including drawings & collages.
