Fields began his career in 1969\, releasing his first single and working with notable acts like Kool and the Gang\, B.B. King\, Clarence Carter\, and Sharon Jones. In the 1990s\, he made a strong return to music after a brief hiatus\, signing with Desco Records and later recording for Daptone and Soul Fire. His collaborations with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings solidified his place in the soul revival movement. Fields has since worked with his band\, The Expressions\, releasing critically acclaimed albums such as Faithful Man (2012)\, Special Night (2017)\, and It Rains Love (2019). His timeless music has reached new audiences through collaborations with hip-hop artists like J. Cole and Travis Scott\, who sampled his track “All I Need.” Fields’ music has also appeared in popular films and TV shows\, including Soul Men\, Magic Mike XXL\, and the series Atlanta.

In the early 1990s\, he moved to New York to pursue jazz\, with a brief stint in New Orleans playing with artists like Eddie Henderson and Mike Longo. Sugarman returned to New York and formed The Sugarman 3\, a funk trio influenced by “Brother” Jack McDuff and The Meters. Adam Scone is a Hammond organ specialist known for his mastery of the instrument’s emotive power. His transformation from a young prodigy to a seasoned player came through years of performing at a classic organ lounge in New York City and touring globally with top bands. Notably\, Scone toured with the Sugarman Three.

Everything he has dreamed\, everything he has felt\, everything he has created – it all has led to this. John Bukaty will\, for the first time\, create his truest art for all to see on stage\, where he has been heralded as a pioneering painter\, a master of improvisation and precision. On the stage\, Bukaty overcomes the childhood trauma of being labeled hyperactive and “slow.” Through his insatiable need to create\, he also finds escape from the gravity of adulthood addictions. Over the course of 80 unprecedented minutes\, Bukaty’s one-man show\, accompanied by live music\, will culminate with seven live-painted pieces of art\, each completed in less than a dozen minutes. The paintings will present the life and times of Bukaty through different themes of his life: the child\, the father\, the CEO\, the recovering addict\, the romantic\, the rock star and the spiritualist.Like a rose growing out of concrete\, Bukaty will reveal some of his innermost shame while painting out of the turmoil and into positivity and inner growth. Over the past 25 years\, Bukaty has been perfecting the art of live performance painting. But this display of three-dimensional prowess marks a new challenge\, one he never has attempted. DESCRIPTION:The Way of Compassion Dharma Center is located in Carbondale\, Colorado. The sister Dharma center is the Here and Now Center in Gunnison\, CO. We also serve a virtual sangha of distributed practitioners across the nation. We are a Rime (non-sectarian) Buddhist center dedicated to the cultivation of wisdom and compassion through the study of Buddhist Dharma. Every Wednesday (except Holiday weeks – please call to check) from 6:00- 7:30 pm join us and our spiritual director John Bruna for a guided meditation and talk with time for questions. This is a live Zoom broadcast that we watch on a projector as a group from Gunnison. Chairs\, meditation cushions\, and bathroom provided.
