Irwin Guides is hosting a Women’s Backcountry 101 Clinic paired with a mini film festival of all Women’s ski films. The Clinic will begin at 1pm on Saturday, December 10th and run for 3 hours. We aim to create an inclusive space for Women to learn the basics of backcountry travel through gear & mapping workshops. The clinic will be open to 30 Women for the cost of $35 a person – this includes entry to the mini film fest & one raffle ticket. The mini film festival will showcase three all Women’s Ski Films – Nexus, Stepping Out, and The Approach 2. Doors at the Majestic Theater open at 6pm with show times starting at 7pm. The tickets are $15 and include one raffle ticket. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Crested Butte Avalanche Center and SheJumps. Please join us to celebrate Women in snow sports & support avalanche education in our valley!
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
