The Gunnison High TRI is a family friendly Adult Sprint and Kids triathlon that takes place on the 27th of August. The event is based out of the Community Center with the biking portion on county road 730 and the running portion on the Van Tuyl Trail. The kids race starts at 8:30 am and the Adult race following at 10:00 am. After the two races, an afterparty will be held where awards will be presented. Regestration fee will be $65.00 per person and $30.00 per Youth with prices going up on the 14th of August.
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley.
