Pearls & Pioneers

September 9, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

$15
Gunnison Sunset

Crested Butte holds a special place in the history and evolution of mountain biking. As does the CB Museum, which housed the mountain bike hall of fame until it moved to Marin County, CA. The purpose of this event is to remind people of that unique history, and that the museum is the hub where those stories live on. On the eve of the 2022 Pearl Pass Tour – the ride where it all began – we host a casual, happy hour-esque event from 4-6pm. Guests will be the first to see new items added to the mountain biking exhibit. There will also be a slideshow featuring rare/unpublished photography from the 1970s-90s, a showing of the short film, Trailblazers, part two of Born from Junk, and a bike show in the garden. The event is open to all ages. Bring your family, bring your friends, and of course – bring your bike. We’ll also have a couple of guest speakers at the event as well as a silent auction with great bike prizes to bid on. Ticket Price: $15, Kids are free with adult entrance Libations, refreshments, and snacks will be for sale at the event – we will be accepting cash & credit cards.

Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison

Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
