August 11, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

$50 – $65
Gunnison Sunset

Join us for these new interpretive history tours as we explore surrounding natural areas around Crested Butte and The Gunnison Valley. These tours will explore the history of the area where we’re riding, the formation of trails, and mountain biking in the valley. You must provide your own mountain bike, helmet, water, snacks, and appropriate outerwear for this tour. We will plan to ride Snodgrass to Washington Gulch, which is rated moderate in difficulty, although the trail choice is subject to change depending on current trail conditions. We will carpool to the trailhead after checking in at the museum, then shuttle back to get vehicles, or you can choose to ride back to your vehicle if you wish after the tour. You should have basic mountain biking experience and skills to participate in this tour, as we will not be teaching mountain biking basics, however we are always willing to provide some riding instruction and feedback for basic skills tuning. Trail Information: Snodgrass Trail to Washington Gulch 3.7 Miles, Elevation Gain 563 ft’

Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison

Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
