Hanging art pieces as well as jewelry and hand painted mugs will be part of the show. Treway Gallery: “Welling Up” Piyawan Kovach ‘Welling Up’ by Piyawan (Penny) Kovach presents a landscape of the imagination etched in a variety of media. “Hidden Figures’ painted in brilliantly colored alcohol ink will challenge viewers to discover the angelic figures hidden in each picture. Then calm the mind with the sinuous lines of the black and white ‘Gateways’ series and finally spice up your viewing experience with her bright acrylic abstracts. Penny’s rich visual output has been fueled by studying art in her native Thailand, in college in Louisiana as well as through living in Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan and Japan in addition to Washington DC and Gunnison. Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley.
