Join us on the patio on Sunday, June 26th at 4 pm to learn about Phil's 3rd novel, Riddled Worlds! Riddled Worlds is a Young Adult Fantasy Adventure that follows David, a teenage boy who is a refugee from a world destroyed by Holes. He escapes into a shadow world, where he is presented with an opportunity. If he can discover the cause of the Holes here, he might just save his own. But the longer he remains, the more he learns just how different—and how perilous—this world is from his own. Reading, Q&A, sales, signing AND DRAWING to win a copy of your choice of one of his previous titles, The Quickborn Odyssey or When James Fell! Phil Coleman has lived and worked in Crested Butte for over a decade. He writes for Middle Grade and Young Adult readers where elements of the fantastic are central to the story. His first book, The Quickborn Odyssey, an absurdist, dystopian fantasy, debuted in January of 2022. This was followed by When James Fell, about a reality-hopping boy, in February of 2022. In addition to reading and writing, he enjoys mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and exploring the West Elk Mountains with his family. Riddled Worlds is his third novel.
Annual events in Crested Butte and Gunnison
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
