Hike West Beaver Creek with B.H.A
July 25 @ 8:30 am
Join Brien Webster from Backcountry Hunters and Anglers on a free, guided hike on the West Beaver Creek trail. This will be a moderate hike south of the West Elk Wilderness that meanders through sagebrush and cottonwoods rising in elevations to pine forest. The trail begins on Colorado Parks and Wildlife lands and starts at just above 8,000 feet in elevation, passing through BLM lands, and crosses onto National Forest lands approximately 1.5 miles from the trailhead. During this hike, we’ll hear how sportsmen and women have shaped the GPLI proposal with wildlife and their habitat in mind; including how a combination of additions to the southern West Elk Wilderness and the Palisades Special Management area would provide permanent protections for the areas outstanding and high biodiversity. This is an out and back hike that will be approximately 6 miles and a gradual elevation gain of 500 feet in the Beaver Creek Valley. We will meet at Mochas parking lot at 8:30 AM to carpool to the trailhead. We will be out until early afternoon so please come prepared with hiking boots, water, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent, rain gear, and anything else you may need.
