Gallery Opening Reception

October 8 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

free

Please join us to celebrate the opening reception of ÒWomen Behaving BadlyÓ on October 8, 5 Ð 7 pm and for the closing reception on October 28, 4 Ð 6 pm. The show will run October 7 Ð 28. Artist Bio: At an early age, I knew I wanted to be an artist. Throughout all my lifeÕs changes, moving from Barbados to New York, to New Mexico, then joining the Marines, art was the one thing that persisted. I was raised to be a leader, to see myself as someone who could help people and improve lives. It was only in the last few years that I figured out how I would do that. Show Statement: The Women Behaving Badly series was born out of a desire to educate people about women from the past. Their stories have been lost over time and this loss is a disservice to those women, to the women and girls living now and to society as a whole. Sharing these stories through my art inspires young girls with role models theyÕve never seen before. These stories make adults think more about what they have and what they have yet to gain by listening to the voices of the unheard.

Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
