Founded in 2018, Floodgate Operators are a 5-piece bluegrass band from Crested Butte, CO Floodgate Operators combine fast, flat-picking traditionals with energetic, heartfelt originals to create a unique experience that is not to be missed. ÔDrought Driven DaysÕ the debut EP from Floodgate Operators brings their signature sound to the forefront. Recorded at Evergroove Studio, ÔDrought Driven DaysÕ combines fast flatpicking, heartfelt lyrics and tight harmonies to create a stellar breakout EP. After having to pull off of tour in March 2020 due to the Covid Pandemic, Floodgate went back to work writing original material that would ultimately turn into their debut album, ÔFlood the WorldÕ. Featuring 10 original tracks, Flood the World builds on the solid foundation laid by Drought Driven Days with complex and detailed songwriting, tight harmonies, and barn-burning leads. Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley.
