Discover Acrylics (Ages 8-11) Mondays, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. April 18 – May 23. Jump into the world of painting and discover a world of texture, color, and fun! Over the six weeks, students will learn how to paint beautiful landscapes surrounding the Gunnison Valley! The first piece will be an exploration of various techniques to create a landscape followed by painting an individual landscape based on a reference photo. Join us as we express our love for beauty and nature through the forgiving media of acrylic paints. Each student will receive a painting kit and canvases that will be theirs to keep after class. Min. 4 students to run. Instructor: Sabina Tamburrino. $95/student, $80.75/members. Supplies Included.
Gunnison Valley is also host to several beloved annual events. A classic winter event is The Alley Loop, a Nordic ski race that doubles as a costume contest. In fall, Mt. Crested Butte hosts the famous Chili and Beer Festival. Every summer in Gunnison, a crowd gathers to watch America’s fourth-oldest rodeo, Cattlemen’s Days. There are also festivals in Crested Butte that celebrate local art, music, wildflowers, and more. Attending an annual event is a good way to connect with the culture of the Gunnison Valley. You might even create a new tradition for you and your family and friends!
