Crested Butte in the 1970s laid the framework for the community we know today. In this decade, there was an explosion of creativity, proliferation of new activities and sports, and a political takeover. This was a riotous time, establishing some of our most loved traditions and sense of community character. Artists of all kinds began to find their way to Crested Butte. They brought color and creativity to the development of this old coal town. Photographers, musicians, painters, sketch artists, movie makers, thespians and more called these mountains home. Join the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum Wednesday, March 25th at 7 pm to learn about the development of arts and culture in the 1970s and how they influenced the community we know today.
